About Mr. Jackson

Fred James Jackson was born in rural area of High Point, North Carolina on Booker Street in the summer month of June during the Korean War. 

Young Fred was left fatherless when his biological father denied him and his mother frail and heart broken took him on a roller coaster ride of child abuse, neglect and homelessness which landed her in the North Carolina Correction Center for Women and young Fred in a foster home.

His Mother

His mother died at age 36 from alcohol abuse and poor health. Fred was released to his grand parents and a grandfather who really didn’t want another mouth to feed. A stay that was short lived and again young Fred was homeless at age 14.

His Accomplishments

Mr. Jackson is one of America’s most highly sought after high octane Motivational speakers. He is dynamic, inspiring and charismatic. He brings high energy to every event and enlightenment is guaranteed. His unique ability to read an audience and his keen sense and “down-home” mannerism lends to his high energy and motivational skills. Mr. Jackson is no stranger to authorship; he is a two time Pulitzer Prize nominee, (1992 & 1994) a Coretta Scott King Book Award  nominee (2007), Newbery Medal and the Caldecott Medal nominee (2007). Fred James “Catfish” Jackson, has penning such books as One Race Many Cultures 2, They Call Me Names and the Catfish and Jabo - Children’s book series, featuring Homework, Lightning Thumps Again, and newly released Priceless Pearls a tribute to the writers and musicians of the Harlem Renaissance period. .
